My complaint:

I dropped a package off at the UPS Store on August 21st, 2021, at about 10:30am in Colorado Springs, CO with a prepaid UPS Shipping Label purchased from eBay.

For the next four days I received no notification nor was any significant shipping discrepancies noted on the UPS online tracking.

On August 24th I was contacted by the intended receiver of the package through eBay messaging that the shipment was reported being returned to me (the shipper).

I contacted UPS customer service who ed that the shipment was being returned to me because of a discrepancy in the Lithium-Ion battery warning label. The agent told me that your hazardous cargo inspector had annotated on the record that the Lithium-Ion warning label was incorrectly affixed to the package and was overlapping the side of the package. The online tracking information noted that “We’ll contact the sender with additional information”, which still has not occurred. I reviewed the “UPS Guide to Packing and Shipping batteries dated May 2019” and there are NO rules, procedures, nor information to justify this rejection.

In the meanwhile, I have been unable to get the local facility to return the package to me successfully. Since this shipment is insured to the maximum allowed.

The package was out for return delivery to me all day yesterday, August 24, until 10:30pm without success and returned to the UPS warehouse, although I was waiting to sign for it. I had a series of calls all day with UPS customer service, who assured me it will be delivered before the end of the delivery day.
Today August 25, 2021, it is again out for delivery and after contacting customer service, who directly contacted your Colorado Springs distribution center, I was told that the shipment will not be delivered until sometime between 7 and 10pm tonight.
This is truly unconscionable. My wife has an important doctor’s appointment this afternoon at 2pm and they would not even make any attempt nor arrangement to accommodate me with a timely delivery. I even asked for it to be diverted to the nearby local UPS store, but they refused.

Suggested solution:

Give me my package back as soon as possible so I can send it to the nice, patient person who bought it.
