On April 16th 2021 showed up around 8:30p. Upon arriving, I received a text message about where I was specifically located. I replied Walmart Pharmacy. When he arrived, I gave him my name and he proceeded to open the truck.
Once my groceries were loaded in trunk, I sat in the car. That is when the driver told me he don’t think I was the right person. So I began to show him my phone. He refused to look at it.
Than I ask him if his name is Marcelo. He reply YES!, But he continue to insist that I wasn’t the right person. So I get out the car and the trip was cancelled.
Than a little later my credit card company flagged my account. So I could no longer use Uber or anything associated with that card, which I found out the next day.
When I called the credit card the next day, they explain to me that they were some odd charges on my bill. I was informed that Uber was the bases of the charges.
Uber had charged me for a trip that the driver had canceled, which I later found going on their app. But early that morning I filed a racial complaint against the driver for canceling the trip even though I provided proof that I was the right person.
But this is more than discrimination. This is both fraud on Uber and the driver. The driver gets compensated for not providing service and Uber get it on the back end. If you are still using a debit card for these transactions, stop! now!
This type of transaction will go through without you ever noticing it.
Anyway, Uber has an appeal process for these type of situations. Although I won the appeal, they issue the transaction as credit, not a refund. And look, you have to use it within two months, otherwise the value is gone.
This is a scan! Fraud! or what ever name that is similar.
So I put in my.complain to warm others about this practice.
They should be fine. And forced to remove a policy that promotes fraud. And the driver Marcelo M1 should be removed from their system.
