Turkish Airlines complaint: Delay and missing of a connecting flight

My complaint:

We had a reservation on March, 18th to Erbil, Iraq (see attachment).
We were supposed to fly at 14:45 to Istanbul. Because of a huge delay at the check-in, we missed this flight and our connecting flight from Istanbul to Erbil. The reason of the delay in the check-in process, was an extreme shortage of employees; we stood in huge lines when there were 2 open desks only to help us, many of us asked for clarification and requested the standing personnel to provide the check-in point with more workers or call a back up team etc., there was unfortunately no response, after 2 hours waiting in the line, we finally got to the desk, our passports and papers were first checked and our baggage were almost taken till the worker saw Erbil on the ticket and realised that we were going to miss the connecting flight anyway. After 2 hours waiting we had to book another flight that was 4 hours later (see attachment). We were supposed to arrive at 23:45 in Erbil, we were there at 04:20. In Erbil, we had booked a hotel room for that day (18th), we evetually arrived at 05:30 at hotel and did not sleep that night but had to pay the fare.

We had a huge delay, much stress about missing the connected flight and uncertainty whether to fly that day anyway, we were not able to sleep and we did not use the reservation at hotel but paid for it.

Suggested solution:

We think it is fair that the Turkish airlines compensates us by refunding the ticket fare besides one night cost at the hotel. That is 50% of the total ticket fare of 923 £ (GBP) 60$.
