My complaint:

I called on March 18th at 8:45am to request a donation pickup. The male who answered the phone to take my information asked me ,what was the donation, I answered by saying one large bag of children clothing. He answered back by saying ,”You want us to come out to pickup one bag of clothing”. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. When donors call to donate , they should not have to be chastised about how much is being donated. The gift of being able to donate to someone who may be in need doesn’t come with a set amount. It comes with the gift of being able to help someone. Your staff is in need of training in public relations. Secondly if my husband hadn’t come down with vascular disorders we would had brought the donations to our local drop off on South Dakota Avenue N.E. Most of the clothing was new due to my grandson becoming to big in weight., because of a intellectual nerve deficiency, that causes him to gain weight because of a traumatizing experience he had to challenge some years ago living with a mentally ill mother. The courts placed our grandchild in our custody and buying clothes for him is one of the challenges that we face due to his nervous condition that causes him to gain weight at a fast rate. I’m sharing this information with you only because it concerns me that a staff person working for an organization such as Salvation Army could speak so Lowly to a donor., and don’t have a clue why folks such as myself donate so that others may have.

Suggested solution:

Train your staff to be humble and have a decerning character.
