My complaint:
I live in New Orleans. The nearest Home Depot to me is in Gretna, La. I’m looking to purchase an attic ladder 25-inch x 54 inch. Gretna did not have one that size. So, I got onto the Home Depot web site, and it said that the Chalmette store had 4 ladders in the size I needed. When I got to the store (1 hr. round trip), they told me that there were only (3), and they were sold to someone, and they were to pick them up this Friday 1-14-22. Apparently, no one knows where the fourth ladder is. I got onto the Home Depot web site again and found that Zachary, Louisiana had one in the size I was looking for. Before I drove all the way up there from New Orleans which would is a 5.5 hr. round trip drive (with traffic), I phoned them and told them what I was wanting to purchase. Their inventory said they had one left. They sent someone back to make sure the product was there. They got back onto the phone with me and told me it was. So, my wife and I drove 5.5-hour round trip to get the attic ladder. When we got there, I proceeded to go back where the ladders were and saw the attic ladder in the spot. I check the model number and I found that it was not the correct ladder. I got someone from the service desk to help me. They could not find it. I am NOT a happy camper. Seriously. I had someone from the pro desk look it up and it showed they had one, but no one seems to know where it is. He checked other stores and the nearest store to have this ladder is in Florida. The size that I’m looking for is 25 x 54 inches. I ended up purchasing a 22 12 x 54 just in case I am unable to find any other ladder and hope that it will work. Since the opening will now have to be adjusted, I will have to hire someone to install it, in addition to it costing $15 more than I planned to spend, a full tank of gas and in total; 6.5 hours in travel time plus the time at the store.
Suggested solution:
If the stores do not have the product, it should be taken completely out of the system. Also, if this is a product that will no longer be available it should be taken off of the web site. If one of your stores in the United States has this size, I would like one shipped to me before I start my install. That way, I know it will be the right fit. Obviously, I had planned to start the project right away because cold air is coming in from where the old ladder is but will delay the project until I hear back from you.
