My complaint:
I have been going to this shoppers for YEARS off and on. Im talking sonce 2013. I am a methadone recipient and have never had issue ubtill early may of 2021 when i went in to get my dose, and the pharmasist named James (short asian male) passed me my methadone and said to me “i just have to tell you because youre on this (methadone), i know you didnt but dont take anything from the store”…. i was pretty annoyed because he literally said it was because i was on methadone. For one, ive never stolen from there and two, if i needed to steal something i would go across the street to safeway or walmart or coop or superstore. I dont shit where i eat, meaning i wouldnt steal from where i get medication that i have seizures without… this same day, i left the store and got in the car. Which has front and rear cameras. The employees followed me out but couldnt see the car i was in. Then a cop came out and he jumped in his car and rode my tail all the way home. Its now june 4th and since that day in early may everytime i go in there i have the older grey haired lady follow me from the makeup counter and the short obese woman from the cashier follow me. So since they are so eager to catch me doing aomething im not going to do, i walk out with my hands up or tell them “you dont heed to follow me maybe just do your job” since they always leave a line going into the isles just to follow me. Or they pretend to he changing garbages just to follow me. The pgarmasist shouldhave never said it was because im on methadone. Because thats discrimination. I will be making a formal complaint to the alberta college of pharmasists and physicians for that and the dact that they misdosed me for about a week straight causing me to go into withdrawal
Suggested solution:
Maybe get a security gaurd so they can stop playing pretend thinking theyre a cop or whatever. Dont assume people steal because they are on methadone. I bet they would feel pretty bad to find out im on it because or a doctor pytting me on pills after an accident. And even if that wasnt the case not all addicts are criminals they clearly couldbt proove i was stealing and got upset. The weather has been hot so i stopped wearing a sweater every day when i go in there so maybe they noticed im not wearing anything that can conceal stolen goods and got upset i dont know but whatever the reason is it is not an excuse to further stigmatize people that already go through enough for trying to get better. Half the pharmasists there are incompetent and i can definetly tell a few of them like to steal pills but that will be for the college to know and find out.
