My complaint:

My name is Shavonte’ Smith. I have a Shopify store. On December 22 at 5:40pm order 1020 placed an order with me. I do not have that particular item in stock so refunded her money 5 mins later. I’m thinking she received her refund then I see that Shopify didn’t refund, they deposited $16.26 into my business account. The next day I see that Shopify attempted to refund her but because it was only 16.26 in my account and not 17.00(shopify took a percentage), my bank charged me a $30 fee. The customer was upset about her refund so I ended up sending her 17.00 via cash app, now Shopify is saying they are going to refund her which will cause my bank to charge another $30 fee so now I’m paying $60 all because I tried to refund $17.00. I spoke with 4 different reps so far and this is frustrating.

A shopify rep by the name of Deborah Anne Pala Calilung contacted me stating that “I reached out to our higher team and they said that the system attempted to debit your account the amount of the order but you had insufficient funds. And the fee is most likely an overdraft fee from your bank.”

This email was pointless, I already know its my bank charging me, but they are charging me because shopify keeps trying to take money that is not available. This is not fair to me. I have asked Shopify several times (I have proof of 6 times that I asked for Shopify to stop attempting to take the funds because I have already paid that customer.
The 4th rep (Rob D 28121960) that I spoke with was extremely rude and disrespectful when I asked for help. They refused to help me. You all need to put him back in customer service training because he is horrible! I didn’t like his attitude and id like to report him for the disrespect. I need this resolved ASAP
I SHAVONTE SMITH, OWNER OF LUXURY SIPS BY NIKOLE DO NOT AUTHORIZE SHOPIFY TO ATTEMPT A REFUND OF $17 ON MY ACCOUNT. THE NEXT ATTEMPT WILL BE HANDLED BY MY LAWYER.

Suggested solution:

Stop attempting to charge my card
