My complaint:
If I could rate them lower than one, I’d definitely do that!
I signed up for a free trial at Shaw Academy last year. Apparently, I forgot to cancel before the expiry date, which cost me $69.99 in the process. On August 13rd, 2020, I asked the company for a refund, and they said they could not do so, but yet offered me 6-month access for free of charge. Seemed like a good deal. So I took it, despite finding out that the courses did not deliver what they had promised. In the email, they clearly stated that they acknowledged my account had been cancelled and no further payment shall be made.
Fast forward to 6 months later, on February 13rd, 2021, I got deducted $69.99 from my bank account again. Confused, I immediately contacted Shaw Academy while showing them the email that they had sent about cancellation ation.
To my surprise, they allegedly made up an excuse saying that I had reactivated my account on 18-Dec-2020, which I’m certain that I did not.
The only email that I received from them on 18-Dec-2020 was an email that was begging me to reactivate my account, which I did. If I had reactivated, it would have informed me that it did.
When confronting them about this, they were willing to upgrade the 6-month offer to 12-month access of their courses, including e-certificates and other irrelevant resources. The courses consist pretty much of what you can find on Youtube.
At the moment, I have been told that I have been connected to their refunding team about my issue, which I highly doubt it would be resolved by it. A few people on Reddit told me that it is just another type of scam, where they call you and ask if you want to make any additional purchase. Thus, I think I would pass with that option
The only thing I want is a refund of my money. I have already made an appointment with my bank tomorrow. We are going to sit down and go over and see how we can move this forward.
Suggested solution:
Give me my money back, every cent of it.
