My complaint:
Our room was very dated, particularly the bathroom which had a scratched and stained sink. In addition, only having one chair to sit on led for an uncomfortable evening as this meant we were unable to sit together during the evening – someone had to be perched on the end of the bed which was less than ideal.
However, it was the noise throughout the night that was our main issue. We appeared to be near some sort of electrical cupboard, and there was a loud buzzing noise which kept us awake most of the night. This was compounded by being close to the lifts – I know someone has to be, but the noise from them as well as the electrical sound led to an exceptionally bad night.
We had to be up at 4.15am and had barely any sleep. It ruined our first day of our short holiday, to the point where in future we have agreed that we will get up at 3am rather than risk a repeat of this.
We were actually really looking forward to this evening and night as a bit of a treat, and a nice start to our holiday – the idea was it would also save us getting up at 3am and driving 80 miles. Instead of this, we spent almost £100 for one of us to be perched on the end of the bed for the evening, and for neither of us to get very much sleep.
Suggested solution:
Some recompense for our wasted expense.
