My complaint:

I was shopping yesterday at your Selkirk no Frills location on august 22, 2023 at about 12:00 noon. I was going to purchase the chicken legs that were in the flyer on the first page. I noticed the freezer was empty so I asked the male cashier if there were any left. He did not have and answer but I noticed 2 employees walking by. He asked them about the sale item and after a few seconds of whispered talk the cashier responded with “ there was a recall on the chicken legs.” I question the reason for the alleged recall, and he turned to the 2 employees with more whispering the cashier responded with “we don’t know.” I found that to be an odd answer, as I am very much aware that the sale item was well stocked the day before. There was no notices up for this alleged recall in the store.
While in Winnipeg today, I asked a clerk if there were any chicken legs left. She responded “I’m sorry, we are sold out.” When I explained my Selkirk store experience, her response was, “ that’s odd, there was no recall that I’m aware of. “
To me a simple answer from Selkirk store would have been “we’re sold out.” I am very disappointed and shocked that the staff would make up such a blatant lie while whispering amongst each other in front of me. I am aware that any recall for any perishable item needs a reason before it is removed, as well as a warning to the consumer.
As this is my main grocery store, I would like a clear answer to the reason for such a disturbing response. I know the sale item was not selling and I was told by a friend there were plenty in stock. So not only did I miss the sale item, which I would have purchased for my large family, but I was treated like a fool. As the sale is over tonight, how can this be remedied?
This experience has me looking at other options for my shopping trips. I live out of town, so driving into Selkirk is a distance and I normally shop once a week.

Suggested solution:

I would still like to purchase the sale item at the sale price.
