My complaint:
This bank is horrible.
Netspend offers a prepaid check service to it’s customer’s. I had written 2 checks, one for my rent, and the other check to finish paying for my phone. Both of these checks were written to the same person.
When a customer uses the prepaid check service, the checks are immediately funded when the check is written. There is no way a check can be written IF there is no money in the account to cover them. There was more than enough money to cover these checks even with these checks being funded.
These two checks were NOT returned to Netspend as a NSF. Rather, they were returned as non funded. There is NO WAY this can occur because the checks are funded immediately upon being written from the account and the amount for the check is immediately deducted from the account Balance.
My checks were ALLOWED by this bank, to become non funded AND the amounts were not even correct.
I can NOT get the people at this bank to acknowledge they made a mistake, let alone refund the money they illegally took from my account.
They have charged my account so far, $15.00 for one check and I don’t know if the other check will also have charge. I live on Social Security Disability–I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS. Never mind having to explain why my check was returned. Even though this wasn’t my fault, I am still responsible for making sure the money a check provides is still good.
These checks being unfunded like this, has caused a HUGE amount of problems, in that, the larger check was for my rent. My landlady deposited her check’s in her account to pay for the mortgage on the home we both live in. If I had not caught this error immediately, the mortgage would have been jeopardized as the landlady used this money to fund part of the mortgage.
The bank did return the small amount on one check that was not correct.
I have shredded the blanks checks I have; I am waiting on one more payment to be deposited for payment and then I am absolutely done with this illegal and immoral company.
IF I had the money, I would bring a Class Action Law Suit against Netspend. What a lying, cheating, thieving business.
I would like a public apology, and an acknowledgement of the mistake they made, refunded my $15.00 and then I will close my account. Until I get these items, I will continue to make sure this matter isn’t forgotten. While i can’t and won’t post the proof’s I have because this is my bank account, I have Plenty! of paperwork to back up my claims.
