My complaint:

I have been a customer and seller on Mercari for many years. Never any serious issues until I posted a branded Yoga Mat Towel bundle on their platform. Of course I received offer after offer at an insulting price and finally someone paid the asking price.

Honestly I didn’t think to look at the profile of the seller, I just packaged the item up and shipped it. About a week later I received several messages back to back the first one being a claim from the buyer that they never received the item and I wasn’t responding to her messages. I was blown away because I haven’t received a message from the buyer and I sent the entire package to the buyer. Moments later I receive a message from the buyer stating the towel was missing and if I sent it in a separate order?

If Mercari only provides one label why would I send it separate and me knowing that it was sent I was confident that this would be resolved quickly. Welp that didn’t happen, I went back and forth with Mercari! Half of the customer service agents don’t read the inquiries and the other half refuse to review any of the obvious.

This situation angered me so much that someone would scam me out of my items, make me lose shipping cost, and mess with my reputation that I turned into a detective. I found out that the account that purchased was just created, not verified, and had no previous activity. Not even a picture on the profile like most of us have.

Strange right?? I thought so too… these people at Mercari allowed a scammer to scam me. I’ve been a customer, I’m verified, I have a 5 star history with my buyers. But absolutely no respect for my rating they gave a scammer the tools to scam me.
