My complaint:
I am a shopper at this store. I have observed theft on a continual basis at this store. High school students come in after school in mass (12-15) at a time and fill there back packs with merchandise, eat food in the aisle, and trash the merchandise on shelves, throwing it on the floor.
Also, regular so called adult customers are coming into store with shopping carts, walking the perimeter of the store, filling the carts with merchandise and walking out the store without paying for the merchandise. Just yesterday, I was standing in checkout line and two women in front of me working as a team stole $400.00 worth of merchandise. One of the ladies transfer merchandise from the grocery cart to the checkout conveyor, while the other lady bagged the merchandise. The second lady played the role of paying for the merchandise, while the other left the store with the merchandise.
The cashier made several attempts to the manager that these two women were shady, he just brushed her off. Meantime, the lady that was paying for the items, claimed she did not remember the pin number for the debit card the was using and needed to go outside to get it from the car. The brave cashier attempted to stop her from leaving the store. All of this was witnessed by other customers standing in line as well as my self.
Something needs to be done at this store to stop this unchecked lawlessness. I feel that employees and customers safety are at risk. Its just a matter of time before someone get hurt. One cashier already has been punched in the mouth trying stop a thief. Perhaps a security guard should be on duty and one entrance and exit point established.
Suggested solution:
Install a permanent security guard on duty during store hours. Also establish one entrance and exit point. If possible install locking mechanism on grocery carts if merchandise has not been paid for, transaction not completed. Carts will unlock, once payment and transaction is completed.
Safeway store in Hercules, Ca. up the street from this Lucky store, has security guard on duty at all times.
