My complaint:
While visiting the store this afternoon with my son I was refused the sale of a can of red bull. My son had several items in his hand as my hands were full, I didn’t have a basket. As we got to the self service checkout I realised I had forgot some milk , I asked my son to wait at the checkout while I went and got my milk, I had at least 6 items in my hands and arms so I asked him to hold a few things for me, one of them was a can of red bull for MYSELF, as I returned to pay we started to scan our shopping at which point the staff member said I`m sorry I can’t serve you that red bull because he scanned it I replied What? He was holding the stuff for me while i got the milk! I was told we can’t serve you because he scanned it! This got me very agitated as it seemed ridiculous, I had items in my hand and we both started to scan stuff.
The staff member contacted the manager who came ans said it`s company policy and to do with their licence, I get their point, If he was on his own then yeah they were right, But he was with me and the drink was for ME!
Suggested solution:
I think they should have used COMMON SENSE and looked at the problem logically, I had my hands full and just because he scanned it doesn't mean it was for him, I use that shop everyday I literally live within 200 feet from the store. I think it was petty and the staff member should have let me purchase the drink as I am a 46 year old man and not a child.I am still very angry and frustrated at the ridiculous scenario and it should never have happened.
