My complaint:
I have a 2017 KIA Optima and the trunk won’t shut. I understand that KIA has several models that have the same condition. The trunk latch is made with plastic and wears out! I called the dealer where I bought the vehicle and they said that there was no recall on my model for that issue.
As I stated previously, online repair videos show that several of KIA’s models have this same problem. Why does KIA choose to use inferior materials to in a situation that they probably know will wear out quickly?
Suggested solution:
KIA Corporation should produce a latch that is much more durable and recall all models that use the 81230D4000 Latch Assembly. In addition, KIA should reimburse any customers that have had to replace these latches prior to their recall.
