My complaint:
I ordered food via the on line app to be picked up at the Kennewick, wa store on 4800 Clearwater ave. I live in Marysville, wa…I ordered food to be picked up by my son. My son Zach is currently homeless . Zach went to pick up the food but when he got to the store the lobby was closed. The sign on the door said they had staffing issues so the lobby is closed but the drive up window was opened. Zach went to the drive up window and explained he was there to pick up an order. The person told him that he needed a car to be in the drive up window. He tried to explain that the food was paid for and he was just going to pick it up.
The worker again told him he needed a car and closed the window on him. The worker then told Zach to go away or he would slap the shit out of him. Zach left and had a friend with a bike go through the drive thru and ask for the food and he was told a bike isn’t a car so they would not give him the food either. Eventually the cops were called and Zach ended up leaving with no food. I did call corporate to get my money returned but, for me, this is much more than money. This is all about customer service and human decency. No matter who you are you deserve to be treated with respect. The homeless are suffering from the disease of addiction but they are people and need to be treated as such.
The way this employee spoke to Zach was completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed. It was not Zach’s fault that the lobby was closed. How is someone suppose to order food if they don’t have a car. If they can’t staff the restaurant it needs to be closed until it can be properly staffed. I know there is a stigma about being homeless but they should not be treated like this. My sons friend did take a video of the incident, let me know if you would like more information.
Suggested solution:
I will be satisfied when there is accountability. This establishment needs to be closed until it can be properly staffed.
