My complaint:

On the 28th of January, I received either an email or a notification saying my account has been restricted due to unusual activities. I didn’t understand what they meant by this statement because there hasn’t been any previous activities. As the account is quite new i thought this might just be their normal procedure, so i contacted Greendot immediately. The Agent i talked to assured me that this is a standard procedure and that all i have to do is send my photo ID and that my account will be restored within 48 hours. I was provided a reference number and email to send my Id to, which i did. Two days later i contacted them again, and i was informed the account has been restored. I immediately informed the agent that the account is still restricted, and he ed they received my ID and the account was restored but system wasn’t updated and he would escalate the issue and my account should be fine within 24 hours. Again, i waited.

Over 24 hours later, My Account remains restricted. I contacted Green dot again, This time i was asked to send in My Id again, At this time i was already getting frustrated, But I eventually resent the my Driving License and waited another 48 hours if i could remember. This time i think i got a notification saying my account has been closed. How is my account closed when you have $20000 of my money? Again, i contacted them, The agent apologized and asked me to resend my ID, how many times do i want to send my ID, I informed her that it says my account is closed, she checked and said i should be rest assured that my account isn’t closed and that i should send the ID one last time. At this point i didn’t know what or who to believe anymore, I just wanted my money at this point. But again, I sent it and they said we are unable to verify your documents and your account is closed. Banks don’t just close your account with money in it, they are expected to give customers a reasonable notice so they can make alternative arrangements.

I have been seriously ill, Just coming out of my sick bed to realize Greendot still has my money 4 months later. I have attached some of the screenshots of the correspondence between Greendot and i. If i had read the reviews earlier, i wouldn’t have had any dealings with this bank. In what world do they think they can hold people’s money hostage and deny them total access to their money.

Suggested solution:

THEY NEED TO REINSTATE MY ACCOUNT AND LET ME ACCESS MY MONEY. IT HAS BEEN FOUR MONTHS AND I HAVE MEDICAL EXPENSES.
