My complaint:
GFL garbage and recycling: I am at my wits end, actually crying from trying to deal with this company. They don’t pick up recyclables most of the time and when I call to tell them, I get delay tactics the first two days I call which finally ends with a maybe they will come later this week answer. But they still don’t come. I asked for a refund for the lack of service and am told they charge $0.00 for recycling, which means no refund. They are supposed to be a green, environmentally friendly company, but I have been throwing all recyclables in the garbage to avoid the weekly drama.
My biggest issue is with billing. I simply want to receive a bill so I can pay it. But after months of calling about that, talking to four different people that promised to send me a bill, the fifth person actually did it. One in a row. Then they changed their story to telling me it will cost $1.95 to get paper billing. I do not have a computer or a printer, I have to go to the library just to find out that they emailed me a bill. My first payment was on March 17th for $231.55 because I didn’t even know I had a bill. They suspended my service for 3 weeks (no pickup at all), but still charged me because I didn’t end service, I was suspended. PLEASE HELP ME. I would love to end service with them, but there is no alternative.
Stafford needs a reliable service that is accountable to government officials or a second garbage company that we can sign up with. GFL has a monopoly and is being very nasty about it. Even though I paid $231.55 on March 17, which paid my bill in full, they now say I owe $170.70. I am terrified they will suspend me again without telling me if I don’t pay all the money they want. Their rate went up from $74.85 for 3 months (September 2022) to $81.85 and now raised it again to $85.35 (April 2023).
Suggested solution:
Send me a paper bill without an extra charge (currently want $1.95 to send a bill)
