My complaint:

On 07242022 at around 615 pm (approximately) I was checking out at the Food Lion Store located 3215 Bridge Road Suffolk Va, I made a joking comment with the cashier, the one thing that will slow down a cashier is produce, smiling. The cashier suddenly stops what he was doing, and Says’ I appreciate you keeping your comments to yourself. I said seriously, and even the customer behind me heard the comments and advised the cashier, I didn’t say anything bad no reason to give such attitude. I was shocked as I had delt with this casher numerous times in the past 5 years. This store, as I advised the manager, I drive an extra five miles for the past 5 years to go to this particular store because I always felt it overall was a better store produce, service etc. I spoke to the manager as I canceled my purchase after the encounter with the cashier. The manager checked me out in a different lane and was apologized. The customer that was behind me advised the manager the employee was mumbling as I was talking to him and felt he may be going through a crisis? I am considering never shopping at a Food Lion again due to this encounter, I am willing to pay a little more to not have such interactions. All the cashier had to say was I am sorry I am having a bad day, as we all have though from time to time. The cashier is a white male 40’s bald or balding, possible first name is David’; in lane closest to the customer service desk. The manager on duty was a tall white male in his 30s or early 40s.Please review the surveillance footage and know I just don’t complain arbitrarily. I have been a customer with Food Lion since they were called Food Town. I am an employee with the City Of Virginia Beach for over 25 years and hope other customers aren’t treated in the same fashion as I was. I appreciate your time and consideration with the above-mentioned matter.
