To whom it may concern
An incident occurred at your store, Family Dollar on MLK BLVD in Jersey City NJ Tuesday night around 7pm. I stopped in after coming from shopping in NYC with my new born infant. I often shop at Family Dollar and wanted to see what Christmas items they had in stock. I said hello to the young man at the door so he can acknowledge me and that I had items at the bottom of my stroller prior to entering because the last time the woman at the register pointed me out suggesting I put things from that store in my stroller after she asked and after telling her those items were mine. After finding the items I wanted to purchase, I paid for them at the register. The cashier asked me about the food on the bottom of the stroller and if I was paying for it in food stamps. I again told her those items were mine. I went to stand at the door to place the wrapping paper inside the baby bag, which I had on my back because there was no other way to carry it. As I stood there getting my things together a man came in and started screaming and pointing at me,“SHE’S STEALING!” As I went on to leave, he grabs my stroller and starts jerking it yelling “SHE’S STEALING!” I pushed him off my stroller with my new born inside. He takes out his phone recording me saying I’m stealing. As I tried to leave again he yanks my stroller again and the young man I said hello to would not let me leave the store. Then he tells the young man if he don’t see if I have a receipt he will fire him. Never have I been so afraid, embarrassed and angry in my life. I called the police but that man who caused the ruckus and accused me of stealing did not identify himself at all left before they got there. I was very distraught, embarrassed, and shaken. As a result, I could not leave my house for days and I am a manager at Walgreens. As a manager, I have never treated anyone that way even those who steal. He had no right to put his hands on me or my baby. There is certain protocol to follow and I was surely mishandled. What if the stroller would have flipped over and my baby fallen out? Any retail store should ensure customers safety and make them a priority customers. They had to be absolutely sure beyond a reasonable doubt that I in fact had stolen an item and approach me in a professional manner. I thought Family Dollar’s philosophy is “The customers are the boss and you need to keep them happy.” I want justice as I am a paying customer and a citizen of the community and was treated so aggressively in your store. Please contact me for further details.

Sincerely,
a very unsatisfied customer
