Direct Express complaint: Direct Express locked my card

My complaint:

I’ve had this account with Direct Express for over ten years and it used to be great. Then around the middle of this year they started declining my payments, occasionally, randomly. I’d call them and then it would be okay for a while. I can’t imagine what’s suspicious about Amazon charges.

Then, last month they declined my phone bill charge. I have automatic payments set up with them.

Consequently, I just didn’t trust them anymore so I opened a new account with a different bank. I updated my social security account with the new information and they ed it and it is set to start 12/25/23.

So I transferred some money from my Direct Express account to my PayPal debit card. My Direct Express card is linked to my PayPal account. I now trusted Direct Express about 0% and I was especially loathe to trust them with my next Rent payment. Keyrenters charges $100 for a declined payment.

Well, Direct Express declined the PayPal payment / transfer and locked my account! I called them and could not reason with them. They want me to send them papers including a copy of my social security card. I still have the official stub with the numbers intact but I don’t have the card because i lost it. Social Security said I don’t need it as long as I know my number.

To add insult to injury, the person I talked to – AGAIN- at Direct Express said to send it but she didn’t know if they would accept it.

I just want them to unlock my account so I can transfer all of the money to my PayPal debit card and close this account.

I can’t wait to be done with them!

But my Rent payment is due two days from now. I’m as nervous as a cat on a hot stove!

They have no right to do this! They should be arrested!

Please help!.

I need them to unlock my account so I can transfer the money onto another card. I want to close this account!
