Is CoinGecko legit?
Legit, mixed reviewsThink of CoinGecko as a genuine price board for crypto, not a bank: it tracks coins and their market data, but never holds, sends or pays out anyone's money. Any site or message showing a CoinGecko balance that needs a fee before withdrawal, or a coin sold as CoinGecko's own, is not from CoinGecko.
What we checked
- Data site since 2014
- Company registered in Singapore
- Ratings on other review websites: 2/5
Watch out for
- A site or message showing a CoinGecko balance that needs a fee before you can withdraw it.
- A token, presale or airdrop sold as CoinGecko's own coin, which it says it has never issued.
- A listed token whose contract lets its owners change the sell tax after you buy.
Asked to pay a fee to withdraw from CoinGecko?

How do I reach CoinGecko customer service?
CoinGecko does not publish a customer service phone number, and we have no verified support number or email address in our data. Support runs through the help and contact sections on coingecko.com and through the official CoinGecko accounts on social media. Write from the email address linked to your account and describe the problem with screenshots and the exact page, coin listing or transaction involved.
Be careful with any support number or agent you find through a search or in a reply to a social media post. Fake support is one of the most common crypto scams there is, and no genuine support agent asks for your seed phrase, your password or remote access to your device.

Can I withdraw money from CoinGecko?
CoinGecko is a price and data aggregator: it lists market data for thousands of tokens and exchanges, it does not hold customer funds and it is not an exchange, a broker or a wallet. So if money of yours appears to be stuck at something calling itself CoinGecko, the first thing to check is the exact web address or app you actually used, because scam sites and fake apps copy the CoinGecko name and logo closely.
Gather everything before you act: the exact domain, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, screenshots of the chat and any payment receipts. If the money went out by card or bank transfer, contact your bank or card issuer straight away and ask about a chargeback or a recall, and report the case to the fraud or police reporting service in your country. Keep every reference number you are given.
How do I report a misleading or scam token listed on CoinGecko?
A listing is not an endorsement. Tokens reach the site through applications and automated data, so projects that later turn out to be worthless or fraudulent do appear there. On the coin page itself there is an option to flag or report the listing, and the contact section on coingecko.com takes reports about misleading information. Include the link to the token page, the contract address, the chain and screenshots of exactly what you believe is wrong.
If you already lost money on a token you found there, keep the transaction hashes, the dates and the promotional material that pushed you towards it. A complaint filed through our complaint process backs that report up: we bring your case to CoinGecko's attention through our own channels while other consumers can see what happened.
Does CoinGecko have its own coin?
No. CoinGecko says it has not issued any official coin and has no plans to, so a token, presale or airdrop that claims to come from CoinGecko is not from it. CoinGecko also holds no funds, so it cannot pay out a balance or ask you for a withdrawal fee.
What do people complain about most at CoinGecko?
So far consumers reported 3 complaints about CoinGecko here, too few to show a clear pattern yet. Our research shows what typically goes wrong at a cryptocurrency data and price tracking site: listings and paid promotions that lead to projects which turn out to be fraudulent, market data that is wrong or out of date, portfolio and account access problems, paid API plans that renew unexpectedly, and support that is slow to answer.

What happens after I submit my complaint?
Your complaint gets its own public page on Complain.biz and we get to work: we bring it to the attention of CoinGecko through emails, social media, paper complaint letters and other tools at our disposal.
And we stay with it after you file. Our trained AI opens a case file for you and keeps coaching: what to reply, when to push again, and how to escalate if nothing happens.
Can other consumers help me with my CoinGecko complaint?
Yes. We have an active community of consumers, and complaints here are public: people who ran into the same problem with CoinGecko can give you advice or back you up with their own story. A complaint with a community behind it is much harder to overlook.
