My complaint:
I made a payment of $556 towards my balance and I realized I made it through the wrong bank card, so I knew it would be rejected because use of the balance. I call Citi to let them know what happened and I also would correct it. I called my bank to ask them to stop the payment because it had already went through twice, I then made the payment to Citi for the same amount $556 on a different account and it was paid towards my balance. I went to use my card at a merchant and I was so humiliated when the sales person said my card was declined, I was shocked, I immediately left in shame to find out what was happening with my credit card and it showed “ ACCOUNT CLOSED”
I called customer service and asked why my account was closed, and they said we randomly select customer accounts to view and if there is 1 or more missing payment we close the account, the customer service lady was very rude and condescending towards me, I paid my payments on time for over 5 years except for the one mistake. I feel Citi discriminated against me, Citi claims “ Action For Racial Equity” to help close the racial wealth gap, I did not see that at all, I was humiliated and embarrassed and shamed in public and with Citi, I was faithful in making my payments on time they have ruined my credit and I won’t be surprised if my others credit cards will close because of what they have done.
Suggested solution:
Reinstate my credit card
