My complaint:
I called Capital One on 6242012 because i received a call from my bank, stating Capital One was trying to debit my account. 4 attempts for 850.00
and 1 attempt for 1000.00
Thankfully the bank notified me because I do not have an account with Capital One.
It appears someone tried to open up an account under my name but the spelling of my name was wrong.
It was rejected by Capital One but the force pay attempts by Capital One
against my checking account was still attempted.
I could see maybe 1 trying to go through but to have 5 attempts by Capital one pretty much to me is fraud and theft.
I had to close my account, set up new on line banking and also will be several days before I will be able to use that new account or do on line banking again.
I also had to call all credit bureaus to put a hold on my account so no one tries to get info. I also need to call Social Security to notify them also.
Very upset about haw Capital One could try to debit funds when I do not have an active account. I almost feel I should let law enforcement get involved. Several attempts is not just a mistake.
Suggested solution:
Find out how this can happen that they can debit someone without an account and find out if this is an ongoing practice trying to get funds from other people that may have larger accounts or business accounts and would not catch this type of dealing.
Very upset.
