Booking.com complaint: Shoddy customer service

My complaint:

A hotel reservation was cancelled a day after a reservation had been made but booking.com never refunded payment.
On arrival at the hotel on the outskirts of Italy, they were not expecting is as my request had been honoured.
Booking.com refused to take responsibility for the distress that they caused as I had to pay for one nights sleep before arranging another hotel.
I rang customer service twice where i was kept on hold for up to 45mins explaining myself over and over again but nonManager rang back as promised.
It cost me 80 euros from Naples airport.
Booking.com should be held accountable!!!

Suggested solution:

By repaying my out of pocket expenses which would never have happened if communication had been better from the onset!!!
