Asurion complaint: Horrible Asurion experience!!!

My complaint:

I purchased a three year warranty from Asurion to cover the dash cam purchase for my car in 2021 on Amazon. I filed a claim with Asurion, and I was directed to ship the non-working camera to Asurion for repair or replacement. Upon receiving my broken camera, Asurion quickly unilaterally deemed my camera as irreparable. This is a common tactic that Asurion uses so that they don’t have to repair or replace malfunctioning products that customers have warrantied through Asurion. It allows Asurion to not only make independent decisions concerning consumers’ property without communicating with consumers to gain approval of any kind. Asurion destroyed MY camera, and that action alone negated my ability to work with the manufacturer (who was willing to repair or replace my broken device) to achieve a better outcome. The manufacturer requested me to return the affected product to them in order to proceed, but because Asurion “destroyed” my camera, I had nothing to return to the manufacturer. To make matters worse, the Asurion warranty was intended to last through June 2024, but because Asurion deemed my device as irreparable, they terminated the warranty as well without refunding even the prorated amount for the months remaining in the warranty. I suspect Asurion is capitalizing on this by acting in the same manner with thousands of consumers. I paid for THREE years of coverage, but actually received NONE! Adding insult to injury, Asurion customer care representative was disrespectful, rude, and nasty! This happened to me, and it makes me wonder how many others have experienced such questionable tactics. We I called Asurion, I was told that they contacted the manufacturer, but were told that “because the device was so old, parts were no longer available.” I knew that Asurion was being dishonest because I was in continuous communication with the manufacturer, and the manufacturer assured me they had received no communication from Asurion. Perhaps there should be a class action lawsuit to force Asurion to refund all disregarded warranty claims plus maximum punitive damages allowed by the law. Maybe that will make Asurion realize they must do better. In my opinion, Asurion’s tactics seem illegal and should be investigated to provide full retribution to those affected by Asurion’s actions. I strongly urge everyone to NEVER purchase an Asurion warranty!

Suggested solution:

Refund me the full amount I paid for the warranty at least!
