My complaint:
I purchased a Maytag washing machine in September 2019. I paid around $600 ….maybe more for the washing machine. I don’t recall the exact price. The washing machine has not been overused or used improperly. It wasn’t until recently when my wife got further along into her pregnancy that we started using the washing machine weekly. Friday, 4/21/23, I turned the washing machine on and attempted to change the cycle for what I was washing and got double beeps. This usually occurs when the lid isn’t closed. Its the exact same double beep. I contacted Maytag (whirlpool) to let them know of my problem on Monday and the representative scheduled service. She told me that I was responsible for $119.00. I wasn’t pleased because once again, this machine isn’t older than 3.5 years and already has gone out. Over the weekend, I researched this issue and found it to be common that there were tons of complaints on the internet from people who purchased the same washing machine having the same exact issue. If you look on reddit, a guy recorded the double beeping on his washing machine and people commented asking what to do because they had the exact issue. Today, the tech came to my house to look at the machine. He said this is a problem that they (Whirlpool) need to fix because he’s had the same issues when servicing those machines. I told him that I believe its a lid issue bc it beeps and he agreed. He said I won’t to tell you what Maytag didn’t tell you. The part for that lid cost 170.00, plus 150.00 for labor, 119.00 for the service visit. Thats over $400? Then he said if the the Motherboard has problems, I might as well go buy a new washer. Its ridiculous that I paid that much for a washing machine to last only 3 years. Then I call to complain today and the rep offered me 15% off of a new machine. I wouldn’t touch Maytag if they were the last company offering a machine. I need some compensation or a tech to fix my machine. I didn’t pay that much money for a defect.
Suggested solution:
I want a refund for the washing machine or a technician to fix the one that I have. Those washing machines need a recall.
