My complaint:

I went through a checkout line and told the cashier I had 3 different transactions one for the items plus 2 different gift cards. And I wanted 2 different receipts for the gift cards. I was buying 2 different gift cards for $20.00 each and asked for two separate receipts. I told the cashier I know I needed two separate transactions for the gift cards. ( I told him 3 times). He said no you only need one transaction for the for the cards and I can give you 2 separate receipts for them. I said are you sure. before I paid. He said yes. But after I paid he said I can only give you one receipt. I said I told you I needed two different receipts. Even the lady in line behind me said she said 2 different receipts which would have to be 2 different transactions. So he brought the CSM over and the CSM said we can only give you one receipt. But you can go to customer service they will refund you and then ring them up again as two transactions. But, you will have to wait for 7-10 bus days for the refund on your card for the first transaction. I said that’s not right. I told the cashier I needed 2 receipts for the cards. So he took me over to the customer service desk. And then the girl there named Cassidy said they couldn’t do anything. And could not give me 2 receipts just something showing the balance which is not the gift card receipt. I said I wanted a refund. She said they could not refund gift cards (these are Walmart gift cards.) I said the cashier did not listen I told him I wanted 2 receipts. She kept saying there was nothing she could do. I told her I wanted to talk to a manager and she said she was a manager. I said well I want to talk to someone over her. She said there is no one else there I could talk to. I said this is not right. Your cashier messed up you need to fix this. She well you can come back tomorrow and I will give you a written receipt. But, it won’t be the printed one you want. I said I should not have to make another trip for something your cashier screwed up. Plus it’s not the gift card receipt you get when you buy the a gift card. She they would only give me the ONE receipt not TWO that I asked for.. I told her I don’t want anything then from Walmart and wanted to return the other things I bought. And she said well you stepped out of line so you will have to wait at the end of the line. I said no I didn’t I was here before the people behind me. I said I want a refund on these gift cards if you can’t give me 2 separate receipts. She said, I SAID WE DON’T REFUND GIFT CARDS! I said there is no sign anywhere that says that and you cashier messed up you need to correct this. And your CSM said you could refund me. She said well he was wrong. And just about that time the CSM came back and said sorry I told you wrong we don’t refund gift cards. She said I AM DONE HELPING YOU!!! I said this is not right. I left the store. And I then called the store to talk to another manager and got hung up on 2 times before I was able to talk to a manager Jason. He said there’s nothing he can do because they don’t refund gift cards. I said there are no sign up that says that anywhere and there are gift cards displays on almost every register and a big display and no signs. He said well the will have to look into that. And said they will talk to the cashier. I said that does not help me now. With my issue of needing 2 receipts or the way I was treated by Cassidy. He just said sorry we don’t refund gift cards that’s our policy. I said your CSM said you do! There are a lot of training issues! with your store! I will be calling 1 800 Walmart and I hung up.

Suggested solution:

First the cashier should have paid attention to my request about needing different receipts. And also known his job. Then the CSM should have been able to print me out 2 receipts and not told me they could refund me for a gift card at customer service. If the policy is no refunds on gifts cards. If CSM's don't even know this how are customers suppose to know this! Plus that front manager Cassidy was TERRIBLE!!!!! She treated me HORRIBLY! I have worked customer service for over 30 years. And I would NEVER treat a customer that way, ever!!! Cassidy's unwillingness to help let alone even listen was Awful! All I wanted was 2 separate receipts for gift cards to Walmart and I could not get that. I was giving Walmart business because the people I bought the cards for would probably spend the gift cards plus more at Walmart! But I guess Walmart got their money for the gift cards so it doesn't matter now, I'm just one customer! If Sam Walton was still alive this treatment would not fly. He prided himself on great customer service. I worked for Walmart when he was still alive. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever received!
I have contacted 1 800 Walmart so we will see if anything is done!
