My complaint:
On July 2 I ordered an Uber and a hold of the trip was placed on my Visa debit card. That’s what Uber has always done. After the trip was finished and I entered in the driver tip amount, the initial hold was released and a charge finalized on my account. That’s how it normally goes whenever I order a ride or even food.
On July 3 midday a second hold was placed on my account for the fare total that reflected the tip I added. I was kind of confused because the actual charge was posted and there was no need for a hold, especially since one was done prior to the trip even starting.
It is now July 9 and I have yet to have access to that hold that was placed 6 days ago. The trip itself cost 193.30, so to be charged that and then a hold of that amount as well? That’s just not right.
So I have contacted Uber Support through the app and they say that the hold was voided. Well I spoke to my bank and they said that it’s still being held by the merchant. I have essentially gone back and forth between Uber Support and my bank for six days. I am beyond frustrated and feel like I wasn’t taken seriously or that I don’t understand the concept of a pre authorization hold.
I am just so fed up with the entire process that I want some sort of report to that the pre auth has indeed been reversed, I would also like the fare refunded because bad I know that I would have gone through this I wouldn’t have even ordered the ride. I would like my account closed after all this is done. I shouldn’t have had to do this. I feel bad because it’s not any specific person’s fault, but it could have been fixed a lot soon. The first hold that was done and reversed was reflected instantly. So obviously something has been done wrong or something has been missed.
Suggested solution:
Remove hold and release funds and refund the trip.
