My complaint:

Last week, I called the Salvation Army in Alexander City, Alabama to ask if they were receiving donations. I spoke with a very nice young woman who told me they were receiving donations and were always happy to have them. I explained to her that my husband and I were downsizing and that we had quite a few items to donate. She said, that was fine. She explained that the items should be sorted into like items and placed into white garbage bags. I told her that we had already done that. She and I arranged for us to drop the items off today, Wednesday 26, 2020 after 10 o’clock. My husband took the items over today. He was approached by a man who didn’t identify himself but appeared to work for Salvation Army. He demanded to know what was in the bags. Bruce told him as best as he could remember, clothes, bed linen, and household items. The man was generally rude and stared toward my husband. He was very close and my husband asked him to step back. His response was, Why? My husband explained that since he (Bruce) was not wearing a mask he would appreciate the man social distancing because of Covid-19. The man walked away and helped another customer. He came back and said to my husband, Get off my property! I’m not dealing with your mess! My husband left immediately but told me that he felt the man’s reaction was in response to the suggestion that the two of them social distance. Bruce, then took the items to a local thrift store were they were well received. I am very angry. I did exactly what I was supposed to do. If Salvation Army did not want the items they had every opportunity to say so.

Suggested solution:

I'm not sure how it should be resolved. I am sure that Bruce and I will never have anything to do with Salvation Army again. Frankly, I don't have much faith that anything will be done to resolve it but I do know that the man's behavior was rude and unacceptable.
