My complaint:

The staff is a couple dating. They are both caucasian. We are American Indian. Most residents are caucasian. They have both harassed my family, provided unfair treatment, unsanitary living conditions during COVID. Take cigarette breaks together every half hour, leaving residents at door awaiting to be let inside. Huddling eachother outside. Threatening me by informing me my complaining has opened a can of worms. Giving me more daily chores than all other residents. Using profanity while in office with door opened discussing my family – saying things like not fair to other residents we go to McDonald’s, tired of my children’s dad using no sir and yes sir, saying my family uses the system and up to no good and she will find out. My children’s dad and I have had our same jobs over 5 years. We are in a pit due to medical leaves from work and COVID. We do not plan on staying in the shelter long. We do appreciate the help at this time but we do have goals. We have an FHA loan pending closing on home once income from employment back on track. Until then we need help. Our surroundings at the shelter are not good. Two of the staff is providing unfair treatment during our short stay. It is cold and almost Christmas and we fear we will be put out with the children. On Sunday we were the only family told to leave at 9am and come back at 3pm with all other residents. We were the only family out of three who were told we had to leave with other residents

Suggested solution:

It is unfair to residents of a Christian based shelter to have that kind of staffing in the shelter. Picking and choosing rules is not right. The rules are in place to be followed and the staff hired should be good leaders. These staff members need to be let go and new staffing needs to be put in place.
