My complaint:

An item in a clearance sale marked at 13.99 was unavailable. Staff phoned a store in Broadstairs which after waiting 20 minutes said they had four. They set two aside. I travelled some 15 miles to said store to obtain items. The store in Broadstairs charged me 22 .99 per lamp not 13.99. On querying this the manager said that was the price and the ticket in Canterbury must have been an old one.
My point is that the error was not mine but yours and in the process caused me a waste of an hour and half of my time plus fuel costs to race down and pick up the set aside items.
Now mistakes are made ..no one is perfect least of all computers staff and myself. But no offer of compensation was made. Perhaps you could learn from Dunelm who on a similar misunderstanding at least has the decency to offer a cup of coffee and a bun for our wasted time. I think that on that occasion the manager gave us a voucher. The impression I got from your store manager was very much tough luck that’s the way it goes!. The member of staff at Canterbury was very helpful in checking and phoning your Broadstairs store to availability. But I don’t think many customers would expect a price hike of 8 pound on each item.
I have shopped for many years at your store without need of complaint. This has made me question my future purchases.
I believe I am reasonable and understand the complexities of running many stores but this customer was give poor information and sent on an avoidable journey wasting his money and his time

Suggested solution:

I would like a written apology and perhaps you could look at compensating a customer in an obvious failure in communication within your stores. by offering at least a coffee and a sticky bun before they embark on another 45 minute journey home!
Equally perhaps if you set aside exactly the same items in a store for someone to go and get that the price is told to the customer before he travels all over the county
