While at a checkout station with one item I presented a rain-check for the item. The rain check was good for 2 purchases at the adjusted price.
The cashier didn’t know how to adjust the price. She went to get someone who could help her. The employee she summoned was not sure how to handle it either but managed to change the price. Both of these employees were polite and apologized for the confusion.
I asked if I could have the raincheck back with the amount changed to one use. She said she couldn’t do that.
Just then a male employee showed up.
I told her I had used rainchecks often that had two uses and the cashier would cross out the two uses and change it to one.
The male employee bellowed at me ….those employees were wrong!……it’s the policy – you cannot have it back!…..
He was rude so I made an inquiry as to who he was. I was told his name was Kevin Watkins. I asked if he was a manager. I was told he was not.
Considering the current climate in the grocery business where you are fighting for every customer, being rude is a dangerous approach.
I have been a customer at this location since it opened as Stop Shop and the employees have always been courteous, helpful, and polite.
Mr. Watkins might be someone to keep an eye on.
