My complaint:

I have received a E-gift card worth $50 from Scotia bank and went to sobeys store (4101 Rochdale Blvd, Regina, SK S4X 4P7). I bought some food for my kids and went to pay for it. That billing person in Til said that my card is not valid. He called supervisor to check it. But the supervisor didn’t take steps to help me out rather he just replied “SORRY ITS NOT WORKING”. He didn’t even tried to check whether the gift card is valid. He just kept on repeating to pay by cash. Then I went out and checked my email how to fix this out and I called the number mentioned under Sobeys gift card 1-800- 832-0717 It asked for my 16digit card number on the gift card with my pin checked for the balance information it said “$50 available” also it informed to reach out to sobeys store to check the balance, So I went back to that same store to inform this and get help to fix the problem, as the only way is to reach out to the store, but when I asked the customer service desk she said to contact Sobeys main branch as this is a franchise they can’t help. I stood there for a while at customer service desk no one was ready to help me there and I left. Then I figured that I can also do shopping in other outlets such as freshco and I visited FreshCo Sherwood Queen, at Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK. I went to the counter with a $3 peanut pack and cashier (Gowri)couldn’t able to scan the gift card but then she tried to enter my gift card number manually and it worked! I wanted to escalate this Sobeys employee’s negligence and I don’t want others like me to experience this awful customer service. It was pathetic customer service experience and I felt helpless getting stranded alone.
