My complaint:
Today I went shopping at the local Shoprite in Riverhead New York on County Road. When I entered the store I observed 2 people without mass and then as I walked around within the first 3 minutes of my visit, I noticed another 6 to 8 other people not wearing masks. One woman said that she’s vaccinated and she does not need a mask. Another couple said they will never wear a mask indoors. On Monday, December 13th the Governor of New York State change the mask mandate to require mask in all places indoors which would include supermarkets.
When I went to the customer service representative, I asked Spencer to I make an announcement reminding customers to wear masks. He said that he cannot. After I asked Spencer to call the manager, he took the next customer behind me. As it turns out, that customer was not wearing a mask. Spencer also did not cover his nose with his own mask. When I asked, he declined to require the customer he was serving to put on a mask. Another customer service representative came over and offered to take me to the aisle that carried the item that I was looking for. While on our way, we passed 2 couples that were not wearing masks and she did not engage them about wearing a mask. One couple said they will never wear a mask indoors.
When we got back over to customer services, I asked her to call the manager which she did. The manager had 3 things to say 1 I’m sorry, 2 I’m sorry and 3 I’m sorry, we do not have anyone at the entrance to enforce the NY State regulations. She also declined to make an announcement. This is the lowest review of any business I have ever given. Please ignore my previous 5 star reviews of this store and chain. I explained her answer was not satisfactory and I will make a report to the State.
