My complaint:

Today at approximately 2pm, my husband and I were shopping in a Shoprite store. This letter is to express my dissatisfaction with the treatment received from an employee at the deli counter. He was a short, elderly man with extremely poor manners, unlike anything I’ve previously experienced in a supermarket.

As we approached the deli counter, where my husband (who is blind) and I were waiting, another customer, who seemed to know the deli employee, engaged him in a personal conversation, ignoring the fact that other customers were waiting. This conversation continued for several minutes, causing visible frustration among those waiting.

When I expressed my displeasure, the employee responded with what I perceived as aggression. His tone and demeanor escalated the situation unnecessarily. I believe that a simple acknowledgment and apology for the delay would have sufficed, but instead, the situation worsened.

Subsequently, I spoke with a store manager about the incident. He listened to my concerns and promised to escalate the matter further. I hope for a follow-up from the management team, as this experience has significantly affected my view of shopping at this location.

Suggested solution:

At least a reprimand and a discussion of proper etiquette and treatment of customers. However, I doubt this deli employee will heed any of it. His arrogance and sheer cluelessness were just profound
