My complaint:

I’m a young Black woman. I was in shoppers drug mart today shopping for various items. I had two items in my hand when an employee from the cosmetics sections approached me asking if I needed any help. Keep in mind there were tons of other shoppers around me and no one else was approached and no other employees were approaching people. I told her sure, and asked her if they carried a particular brand. She pointed it out and told me to tell her what product exactly I was looking for and that she would go and grab it. I did and she came back. Instead of handing the item to me, she grabbed the other two items from my hand and told me she would take all the items to check out for me and that I should come check out now. I informed her that I still had more shopping to do and then she watched me walk away to continue shopping. I also had a prescription to pick up at the pharmacy so after I finished my shopping I went over and asked her for my items back as I would just pay for all of them over at pharmacy along with my prescription. She looked very hesitant and suggested I just pay for these items at cosmetics and then pay again for my medication over at pharmacy. I firmly told her no, that I would like my items back and that I would be paying for them all over at pharmacy as this made no sense. She reluctantly gave the items back. I believe I was racially profiled today and honestly it made me feel so disgusted, demeaned and embarrassed.

Suggested solution:

I would like an apology from this employee and for her to undergo some type of racial awareness or sensitivity training as she is clearly lacking those, and showed blatant discrimination towards me today.
