RBC Royal Bank complaint: Unjustified hold

My complaint:

I was told when I called the 1888 number twice that if I brought the check that was drawn on the royal bank to the bank in person, I would be able to cash it without issue. I made an appt. Went to the branch and all was good until I told them I did not want to deposit the check, I only wanted to deposit a quarter of it. The person Evan came back to tell me the branch manager would not allow that. When I asked why, Evan could not give me an answer and the Branch manager refused to talk to me. The check had already been taken downstairs and deposited. I was then told I would only be allowed to access 1000 even though if I had deposited it through online banking I would be able to withdraw 1500. I don’t understand the hold and it seems nobody can explain it since the check was drawn on the Royal Bank of Canada through one of the top Health insurance companies in the country.

Suggested solution:

Release the hold on my account which should never have been there to begin with
