My complaint:
My family (2 kids) arrived in Seattle from Doha where we were to transit to Albuquerque. The flight arrived a few minutes early but there was chaos at baggage claim. We waited almost an hour for our luggage to arrive making us miss our connection. We had a hell of a time getting any support from Qatar through their chat and phone lines. Partner airline rebooked us after many tears for a flight two days later. We had to pay out of pocket for hotel, meals and transport. Partner airline refused to pay and insisted Qatar should cover the costs. Previous compensation requests have been denied because they said the flight arrived early— how does that matter if my luggage is late! A Qatar agent at baggage claim said they were understaffed when I asked when my luggage would arrive and she told me- you are going to miss your flight and should go straight to the transfer desk to get another flight. Why would I lie and put my family through a two day ordeal that I have to pay out of pocket for? Makes no sense. I’ve flown with Qatar several times before and never expected to be treated this way as a customer or frankly a human being traveling with young children. Things happen- I get it but own up to your mistake and make it right.
Suggested solution:
Compensation for two nights hotel
In Seattle, meals for two days and transport to the hotel from airport and back.
