Nordstrom complaint: Gift Cards and Very Poor Customer Service

My complaint:

I was scammed into buying Nordstrom’s gift cards. Which is only part of my complaint. I was told gift cards are like cash and non-refundable. I realize other companies treat gift cards this way as well. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB about this part. My biggest complaint is Nordstrom’s customer service people. No one and I mean no one knows their company policies. The first day or the scam I was told to put a freeze on the gift cards I had which, I did. I couldn’t believe this one. I was working with their financial team. They had said they would contact me within 24 hours. Three days later I call customer service and was told that customer service did not have a number to the financial team. That the finanical team only called out didn’t take any calls in.

Whenever they told me they would contact me within so many days. They never did I had to contact them. When it came time that I was told I would not for sure be receiving a refund I tried to get the gift cards reactiviaved. Which took me over five hours and a trip to the store over one hours dirive away one way where I purchased the gift cards. It ended up I had to talk to 3 different superivisor before I could get my cards reactivated. The sad part is it only took her less then 5 minutes to do this task. I feel Nordstroms really need to training their customer service people so they at least have a clue as to how to handle things. If they don’t know then know who to go to to get the correct answer. Instead of sending people all over god’s creation for no good reasons other then to get them of the phone. Especially with the price of gas today. Nordstroms people may be rich but us retired on fixed income folks usually are not. Since Nordstroms is so rich you wouldn’t think they need to keep my few hundred dollars. I guess that’s how they got rich. Who knows.

Suggested solution:

I would like my money back for the gift cards but I know that\'s not going to happen. Nordstrom should train their customer service people and test them every so often to be sure they know how to give good customer service not just any old answer to get some customer off the line. Very madding.
