My complaint:
I am currently on MSC Divina and would like to inform you of the most horrendous discrimination incident I have ever encountered. Tonight, my husband and I visited your Cruise Consultant with the intent to book future cruises from Dubai and Cape Cod, South Africa. When we arrived, your Cruise Consultant was with another passenger and for over an hour they giggled and talked about other passengers who did not shower or even brush their teeth. Although the number of passengers waiting to book future cruises grew, your Cruise Consultant continued the disparaging conversation.
When your Cruise Consultant concluded her hour-long conversation, my husband and I – who were next in line – sat down at Cruise Consultant’s desk. At that time, your Cruise Consultant inquired whether we had asked the waiting white passengers if had scheduled an appointment with her. I informed her that was not my job and in response your Cruise Consultant told us she did not have time to talk with us since she would be taking her break. Immediately I went to Guest Services to report your Cruise Consultant’s behavior.
While I was at Guest Services my husband continued to attempt to obtain information on future cruises; however, your Cruise Consultant ignored him and instead left her desk to provide the white passengers information on future cruises. In disbelief of the blatant racism, my husband started recording your Cruise Consultant’s interaction with the white passengers. Although the recording took place in a public area, your Cruise Consultant attempted to intimidate my husband by calling and weaponizing Security to falsely claim he was disturbing the white passengers.
Never have we been so humiliated than we were tonight. We are black business owners and have cruised with MSC multiple times. One of the things we like most about MSC is its cultural diversity. But to see one of your crew members discriminate against passengers of color is truly disturbing and we hope this is not an acceptable and normal practice.
