Motel 6 complaint: Reasonable expectation of being able to get a good night’s sleep

My complaint:

I booked a room for April 2-3. 2021 at the Motel 6 located at 1254 Halyard Dr, West Sacramento, CA 95691 and checked in between 2-3pm, leaving immediately to visit family. When I returned about 10pm I immediately noticed a noisy disturbance coming through the ceiling from the room directly above. I assumed it would die down shortly but it continued, becoming increasingly irritating. I contacted the front desk around 12 midnight regarding the disturbance from the room above, the jumping, bouncing and bumping above my room continued, preventing me from getting to sleep. Another call to the front desk about 1:30am I complained that the disturbance had not stopped and asked to move to another first floor room (I have a disability). Apparently there were none available so I suggested they could move the party above my room to another room. Nothing was done and the disturbances continued throughout the night. I put on headphones with gentle music loud enough to somewhat mask the noise and eventually got a few hours of sleep towards the end of the night. Additionally, the TV had reception of only 4 of 5 channels of no interest and the remote barely worked, but that really wasn’t much of a factor in my not being able to sleep.

While I realize it is difficult to control the actions of persons who may have behavioral issues, after repeatedly contacting the motel manager something more should have been done to provide a quieter environment to allow your clients to get to sleep. I did not receive the implicit guarantee for a guest paying for lodging: a reasonable expectation of being able to get a good night’s sleep without external disturbance. As such, I deserve a refund of $76.25 for the amount I paid for the lodging.
