My complaint:

I am an employee of the City of Marianna fire department. We work 48 hour shifts and like to get breakfast prior to each of our work days. On 09162020 my crew and I pulled up to McDonald’s in order to go inside and place a takeout order like we have the past 3 shifts in a row. This was during a serious rainstorm so we were hustling to get to the front door. Before making it to the front door, an employee came to the front door without opening it and just began waving her arms in a “were closed” fashion. The sign on the door directly below her hands stated “takeout and drive thru only”. While trying to get the employee to open the door to explain why firefighters protecting the city that she is employed in could not eat breakfast at their public establishment, the employee walked away from the door and avoided us. While still standing in the rain, we decided to get back into our fire truck and pull up closer to the front door and wait. Another employee returned to the door, opened it and stated “our supervisor isn’t allowing inside orders” and then the employee shut the door without allowing us to ask how we could be served. I then went back to the door to try to ask how to be served and an employee mouthed “drive thru” at the door without opening the door and I loudly stated that our fire truck can not physically fit through a drive thru and the employee walked away. No one offered any assistance and showed complete disrespect.

Suggested solution:

Reprimands for anyone involved in this incident. The members of this shift are willing to risk their lives for the citizens of this city which includes the establishment of McDonald’s and it’s employees and we cannot even purchase some $3 breakfast sandwiches. An apology to the city of Marianna fire department would be greatly appreciated.
