My complaint:

We had purchased a total of 19 Emerald Cedar trees from the Maxi Store located at 1757 Blvd. Marcel-Laurin, Saint-Laurent, QC H4R 1J5 this spring of 2023. We took much time that was needed to properly plant and garden these beautiful trees by choosing the right location and the right time to plant. We dug the right amount for the hole and placed the cedar tree in the center of the hole so the top of the root ball is even with the surface of the soil.

This was all in an area with much light that is needed. We dug a shallow trench for each tree in a circle around the tree, then watered the young cedar as often as needed, or a little more if the weather is hot. The soil was moist but never saturated. All was good and they seemed to be growing well, but then all of a sudden, out of the 19, 8 died. We took care of all of them, but sadly some of them died and they now look horrible on our property.

It not only cost us $35/each tree (before tax) for a total of $665 (before tax), out of which 8 died and now we are out $280 (before tax), but it was a great deal of work and time and energy to put them all in proper place and location (this includes measurements to make sure they are all the same distance between each other). It also cost us for the fertilizer, as well as the tree food, etc, that we needed for them all. This is a great deal of money.

We are very disappointed and will now need to remove these brown, horrible looking trees, after so much time and effort. Our property will now look bare and cosmetically distasteful since this will cause odd gaps between the trees. Not sure what the problem was, since we did everything by the book, and we know what needed to be done to help them grow, and as you can see by the pictures, out of the 19 trees, 11 are thriving and beautiful, and 8 are now defective (so-to-speak). We hope that you will be able to compensate us for this unfortunate incident and not-so-great product that we purchased from your establishment.

Suggested solution:

We would like to be compensated at full price for the 8 defective trees (at $35/each tree tax), as well as compensation for the extra materials we needed to plant these trees (such as fertilizer, tree food, etc). Thank you.
