My complaint:
Saw a commercial for Mastercard….the idea of allowing folks to choose their name printed on their card based on gender orientation or otherwise is a terrible idea that will be a headache for Mastercard from the fraud aspect. People will make up names and rip off Mastercard, and then everyone’s interest rates go up, and Mastercard wins regardless. Transgender is a very small majority, 2 to 3%, so is pandering still a thing? Everyone was already included!!
Suggested solution:
Mastercard should stay out of the political distractions that are literally not issues at all. Taking a stance on societal issues in marketing campaigns, although admirable, is waters not necessarily worth treading. Whether good or bad, publicity is publicity, so arguably generating discussion born of edgy advertising is a darn good investment.
