My complaint:
I had bought a hydrangea plant at leith walk. I went into Lidl Easter road to buy spices I had forgotten. There were no spices. I left and was followed by a member of your security staff who asked to search my bag. I complied and produced the receipt for the plant. He spent some time scutinising this – there were only 2 items on it. He then proclaimed that it wasn’t valid because had ‘flowers’ and the receipt didn’t say ‘flowers’. I pointed out that the hydrangeas have flowers. He grudgingly after more scrutiny of the receipt gave in. I asked for an apology. He said ‘no’ and walked away.
This was embarrassing and just stupid. I think I was owed an apology. Disappointed in Lidl.
Suggested solution:
By issuing an apology and some recompense for the public embarrassment, and training to staff to recognize receipt descriptions, and being willing to apologise to staff.
