My complaint:

In October of 2020 we had a slab leak in our closet and under our shower. Called an abatement company to stop leak and dry out carpet. Liberty took care of this in a timely non problematic fashion.

The adjuster then took measurements via me and an app to get size of shower and what was there. I contacted two restoration companies that Liberty agreed to. Both said they would take the job with amount Liberty set for reconstruction which was $3479.75.. I also had bids from 3 other contractors which came in around $7000 – $9000.

When I asked the restoration Co. about the big difference, they both said once we signed a work agreement they simply resubmit to the insurance for the difference. Fine, except neither restoration company would show us samples of what they would use.

Now it’s Feb. We have been using our guest bathtubshower for 4 months. I submitted all bids to ins. And she says they have to be of like kind…I state we are upgrading from cultured marble to panels. No go. So I submit two bids of cultured marble. We have signed a contract in Feb. With DreamStyle to proceed. Insurance now requesting a detailed invoice from Dreamstyle for what we have…wait a minute, they asked me for bids on like kind.

It’s now coming to August and still getting nowhere with ins.
Beware of Liberty Mutual…you also can only communicate through email which is a pain.

Suggested solution:

Accept the two like kind bids and settle claim. My policy does not require me to use their references.
