My complaint:
I dropped my tax info off to the above referenced office on 21321 and have still not received an update or status as to if the returns are complete, when they will be complete, how much I may owe, etc. I have e-mailed and called several times. There was no answer to my e-mails. Whoever answered the phone assured me that I would hear back within a few days. Then an e-mail was sent out to customers stating the following:
Dear Valued Client,
We are contacting you to let you know how this office is going to proceed through the extended tax season which runs between April 18, 2021 through May 17, 2021. At this time we are certain that all of the tax returns in our office will be completed on or before May 17. Officially the office will not be open during this time. The sole function of the office is to complete all of the remaining returns in our office.
The Newburyport office will be open for payments and pick up only on a scheduled basis which is currently anticipated to be:
Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.,
Wednesday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Please do not come to the office during these hours unless you have been called or emailed by us that your return is ready to pick up. These hours are designated for pick up only.
Status updates: We simply cannot address questions about the status of your return during these times or we will not be able to complete returns by the deadline. Please wait until you are called or emailed to come to the office.
We ask that if you have any questions or concerns to please email the following preparers as needed. The phones will not be ringing into this office and will be rerouted. Email is best for contacting us. Again, our priority is completing returns.

We sincerely appreciate your ongoing patience through this tax season and look forward to sitting with you next year at the desk and delivering the level of client care that we have all grown accustomed to in the past.

I feel as though my tax returns are in a black whole somewhere and have zero comfort level that they will in fact be completed at all. At this point I would prefer to have my information returned so that I can have a reputable tax preparer complete them but per the e-mail that was sent out by that office no contact is even possible. This is beyond ridiculous. If in fact the tax return filings do get completed they should not expect a fee for their service (or lack of service).
I will never go back there again and only hope that these delays do not cause me to have issues with the IRS.
Suggested solution:
Complete the tax returns and contact me with the status. My taxes used to take one hour to complete when we could sit face-to-face with a preparer and now it's been over two months
