My complaint:

On October we had 2 charges from HostGator for unknown amount. I tried to contact you because the amounts were much higher than anticipated. Upon no response from HostGator we turned them into Amex as Fraud and we were refunded.

In our November 16 to Dec 15, 2023 statement, Amex refunded us both amounts. We later found out that the original amounts were actually from HostGator with their increased charges. So, we contacted Amex who ly charged us and paid HostGator a second time. This is shown on our Amex December 16 to Jan 16 Amex Statement, Amex recharged us the two amounts. As such HostGator was paid.

In Feb 2024, Host Gator advised that they had refunded us these 2 amounts to our card ending in 2005 which is an old card of mine and has long been closed. I have no idea why HostGator decided to supposedly refund the money. I have just spent a couple of hours with Amex in a couple of discussions with them. They have researched all our cards and have not received any amounts from HostGator. They advised we need to deal with HostGator directly on this as they can not take any action on this matter.

That 2005 card is actually an old card of ours and is no longer valid. However, AMEX was able to check it and no refund showed up on that card or any other of our cards. As such we have been charged for the two amounts and have paid Amex. HostGator needs to do a thorough research. If HostGator processed a refund on their own, it was never received by Amex.

HostGator needs to thoroughly review their accounting as you are still in possession of these 2 charges.

Suggested solution:

Reinstate my website
