My complaint:
Got to the Caravan and s the van smelt terrible, obviously been dogs in the van, was a horrible dog smell, possibly dog urine. Found dog hairs on plates and bedding. The van had the sticker on it to say this is not used for pets. I suspect people don’t rent out pet friendly vans and save themselves the money as I cannot see any checks being done by staff to enforce this policy.
The sink in the kitchen was leaking and there was no gas in the van. We reported this at 18:00 at reception. A maintenance man visited at about 18:15 and told us he would get a new gas bottle. Waited patiently and it was about 20:30 with no resolution and no sign of help, tried phoning but no answer. Went back to reception and nobody seemed to be aware of my problem. At 21:00 this was finally resolved. The gas bottle was not empty, the gas tap on the bottle just needed to be opened. We lost the first day use of the van. Was too late to start cooking so went to bed. Surely one of the checks would be that the van had gas or was switched on before we turned up. The van was not clean at all. Also the TV Ariel was at a funny angle, maybe the wind so any movement inside the van would cause the TV signal to drop. We had no confidence with anything being resolved by this point so did not report it. There was not cooking equipment, for example, no oven trays, again we just made do with what we had.
On the Saturday evening there was a lot of noise disturbance from drunk people and fighting.
We left a day early on the Sunday.
Suggested solution:
We would like to be compensated financially and not with holiday vouchers as we do not intend on booking again.. What could we do, go home, we had paid a lot of money on fuel costs and the Isle of Wight Ferry.
